Family-Friendly Nature Hike around the Big Bear Valley

Big Bear Lake Trip Overview

I’ve been an outdoor adventure guide in Big Bear for the last five years. I’ve been exploring all the best hiking trails in the Big Bear Valley for the last 20 years. It’s hard to find an easy hike in Big Bear; A lot of trails are steep and hard for little kids. This trail is actually stroller-friendly also, which you can not say about a lot of hiking trails in the mountain communities.
I love the peace and solitude of this trail in the woods. It’s hiked mostly by locals who live in this neighborhood and is not a tourist spot. I personally love to share the local history around the Big Bear Valley. I really enjoy pointing out different flora and fauna to my younger guests and teaching them how interesting nature can be like the wild native insects we might see on the trails

Itinerary

There is so much unique nature for children and families to experience in Big Bear Lake. Take a family-friendly walk with me into the woods and let me teach you and your family about our native plants and the history of the Big Bear Valley. I will explain all the different plants and trees we will see on the hike and even munch on wild plants we see growing seasonably on the trailside. I will tell you and your family stories about the animals who live in this forest, even showing your children animal tracks, owl pellets and if we see any butterflies I will teach your children the secrets to taking the best butterfly photos.
I love sharing my knowledge of this wilderness with young guests to Big Bear. As an outdoor enthusiast, I have so many tales to entertain families about our local Big Bear wildlife. If we meet any butterflies on the trail I will even give your children a quick lesson on butterfly photography!
I feel like getting kids interested in nature when they are young is a great way to influence the future generations of outdoor lovers. Big Bear Lake is a great alpine area to learn about our local plants and animals.
