Chicago Walking PLUS “L” Train Tour: Explore River North & Chinatown in 2 hours!

Chicago Trip Overview

Chicago’s famous “L” train connects many of Chicago’s best neighborhoods. We’ve chosen two neighborhoods known for their foods, shopping, and rich history — River North and Chinatown — and are excited to show you a little bit of both by way of the Red Line “L.” You’ll learn about everything from the origins of the city itself, to the origins of foods like “Chicago style pizza,” to the 1920s building boom that decorated our famous “Magnificent Mile,” and much more. After exploring this lively area, you’ll then take a 10-minute “L” ride — part underground, part above — to Chinatown, one of Chicago’s 200 neighborhoods that most tourists will never experience. In Chinatown, you’ll learn about the history of the neighborhood itself, along with its architecture and its foods, discovering secrets along the way (like the church where Al Capone’s mother prayed for him to clean up his act). This tour ends in Chinatown, allowing you to explore this neighborhood further on your own.
