Dallas Trip Overview

Our journey starts at the West End, the oldest part of the city, we will visit Dealey Plaza, the Grassy Knoll, the Old Red Court House, and Founders’ Plaza. Revisit the fascinating history of the JFK assassination and hear about the city’s beginnings and its founder.

Further down our route, we will visit the former Dallas Morning News headquarters, the famous Pegasus and the spectacular Pioneer’s Plaza which features larger-than-life bronze sculptures. The second leg of our walk will take us through Main Street’s incredible architecture and rich history. Our tour ends at the Arts District.

The John Fitzgerald Kennedy Memorial is a monument to United States President John Fitzgerald Kennedy in the West End Historic District of downtown Dallas, Texas erected in 1970, and designed by noted architect Philip Johnson.

Dramatic 1890 red sandstone courthouse. The Old Red Museum of Dallas County History & Culture showcases Dallas County’s story in a comprehensive exhibition that is entertaining for people of all ages.

Dealey Plaza is a city park in the West End district of downtown Dallas, Texas. It is sometimes called the “birthplace of Dallas”. It also was the location of the assassination of United States President John F. Kennedy, on November 22, 1963.

Pioneer Plaza is a large public park located in the Convention Center District of downtown Dallas, Texas. It contains a large sculpture and is a heavily visited tourist site. Adjacent to the plaza is the Pioneer Park Cemetery

I.M. Pei’s modernist inverted pyramid design is a result of space requirements from city government and one of the city’s most famous landmarks.

We will walk through downtown’s Main Street to see the “iconic” Eyeball, a 30’ tall sculpture by the artist Tony Tasset. You can’t visit Dallas without learning about the original Neiman Marcus Department Store or the history of 7-11, both founded in Dallas!

Thanks-Giving Square is a private park and public facility anchoring the Thanksgiving Commercial Center district of downtown Dallas.

Seat of the city’s Catholic bishop, opened in 1902 & rededicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe in 1975.

The Dallas Arts District is the largest urban arts district in the United States. The walkable neighborhood offers art for everyone with award winning museums, world class performing arts venues including the Winspear Opera House. Visit the Texas Sculpture Walk’s interesting works of modern art and sculpture. See the historic Cathedral Guadalupe and Belo Mansion and hear about the Mansion’s ties to the infamous gangsters from Dallas, Bonnie & Clyde!

Klyde Warren Park creates green space “out of thin air” that connects the vibrant Uptown neighborhood with the Dallas Arts District and downtown. It is also the last stop of our walk.
