We’ll share a brief history of the Central Market – the oldest continuously operating farmers market in the U.S. On Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays when the market is open we will have the chance to go inside for a brief tour.

We will then visit the oldest settlement in Lancaster County, followed by a trip to one of our 19 remaining covered bridges…

Learn about the life and works of Charles Demuth, Lancaster’s most famous artist and view the Demuth Tobacco Shop, the oldest in the U.S.
Learn about the Steinman Hardware store – the first hardware store in the U.S. – and the history of the Steinman family publishing business as well as many other notable printers and publishers in the history of our country who were from Lancaster.
