Dolphin Adventure in The 10,000 Islands Wilderness Preserve

Marco Island Trip Overview

We at Dolphin Research Tours have reinvented the ecotour.

We provide real expertise.
We have been studying the dolphin communities in southwest Florida for 16 years. No other tour can provide as thorough an understanding of the local dolphins.

We respect the wildlife.
Coastal dolphins are under increasing pressure from human interaction. On a Dolphin Research Tour, you are part of the solution, not part of the problem.

We engage kids.
Kids are not just along for the ride. We’ve developed a fun ‘citizen-science’ activity for children that lets them be a scientist for the day.

We give back.
During each trip we collect sighting data for The Dolphin Study, a non profit working to protect Marco Island’s dolphins.

Itinerary

You will travel through the waters of The 10,000 Island Wilderness Preserve in search of dolphins aboard a small boat with an expert guide.

Departing from The Goodland boat ramp, you are immediately immersed in the mangrove forested wilderness of the aquatic preserve.

A resident community of coastal, shallow water bottlenose dolphins live here. We will respectfully observe these remarkable animals as they socialize, feed, travel and raise their calves in the waters where they make their home. You will come away from this tour with amazing memories and profound insights into the dolphins and the area’s rich and varied varied marine habitats.

We will stop to explore a remote barrier island beach.

Individuals of all ages can learn from and participate in a sixteen year photo-identification study of the area’s dolphins with Kent Morse, founder and director of The Dolphin Study.

Watch out for birds, manatees and sea turtles along the way.
