Here we are at the entrance of this swamp, where we will get to explore the very same swamps that infamous pirate and outlaw Jean Lafitte once sailed and established his base of operations along with his brother, Pierre, and their band of “Baratarrians.”

We visit the oldest documented plantation that is still standing in the Lower Mississippi River Valley, which started construction in 1787 and was completed in 1790.
