The grandest stage in New York City, Central Park functions as everyone’s front and back lawn, playground, meditation spot – you name it – almost everything has happened here. But it is a product of meticulous design, and now we can enjoy its preservation thanks to the people of the city – its immediate neighbors as well as its occasional visitors. Celebrate the Park!

But, we shall see the Cook Block, and a town house or two of some of estimable wealth, but we will also hear about the history of this neighborhood – for that is what it is: a neighborhood of people and institutions of many from all over the world.

Established in 1754 on Nassau Street, and now in its third location, the Society Library has had some of the most distinguished borrowers this country has ever known – and you’ll learn what it meant to have an overdue book finally returned!

The largest collection of art in the Western Hemisphere, and second in size only to the Louvre, the Met is a lifetime’s worth of attractions – and the jewel of this neighborhood.

Stop At: Belvedere Castle, 79th Street Mid Central Park, New York City, NY 10021

After a refreshing walk in the woods (really!), we shall discover the magnificent “folly” of Calvert Vaux – a newly restored “castle” overlooking Turtle Pond – and a magnificent view of the Great Lawn.
