Pass By: Green Lake, Seattle, WA, USA

Tuesday mornings.

Run like the locals do!

Greenlake is a lovely residential neighborhood, north of downtown. Greenlake is a 2.7 mile running loop around the lake, with nearby cafes, restaurants, and bars. The vibe of this neighborhood is family-oriented, active, and outdoorsy.

The path is fairly flat, with some shaded and some sun exposed areas. We will meet at 8am, run a 5k around the lake (with a little extra to make it a true 5k distance) and then grab a coffee/tea at a nearby upscale cafe.

Greenlake is easily accessible from the Roosevelt light rail station.

Pass By: Alki Beach, 1702 Alki Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98116-1817

Saturday nights and Sunday mornings.

West Seattle is Seattle’s first neighborhood! Learn the history of Seattle while taking in the wonderful beach vibe. Seattle’s beautiful skyline and the Olympic Mountains are highlights of this route. Plus, sea creature sightings are common (seals and porpoises).

I will meet the group at the sea-taxi terminal for a 5k run, followed by a beer (Saturday night) or a coffee/tea (Sunday morning). The water taxi is a fun way to experience Seattle! Hop on it easily from the waterfront near downtown Seattle ($5.75/adult for water taxi).

Pass By: Pike Place Market, 1st Ave & Pike St Between Pike and Pine Sts. and First Ave, Seattle, WA 98101

Monday mornings.

Pike Place Market is loved by tourists and locals! With so much to see, smell, and hear – your senses will experience some of what makes Seattle truly special.

Our Pike Place 5k starts at the Gum Wall in Post-Alley. From there, we run north, past the market, along Puget Sound, to the Olympic Sculpture Garden, and beyond. Take in lovely views of Mount Rainier (Cascades) and the Olympic Mountain Range across the Sound. Smell the salty sea air and feel its breeze.

We will meet at 8am, run a 5k, and then grab a coffee/tea at the original Starbucks location. Please note that there is always a line at this Starbucks – but it is fun to visit.

Pass By: University of Washington, 4014 University Way NE, Seattle, WA 98105-6203

Wednesday mornings.

The University of Washington lies northeast of downtown. The campus is home to stunning architecture and a quad, world famous for its spring cherry blossoms. In addition to the campus being stunning, it lies in a wonderful part of Seattle.

During The University of Washington 5k route you’ll see…
-The Urban Horticultural Center – a large marshlands park with views of Lake Washington and home to several large birds of prey.
-The University of Washington campus
-University Village: shopping mecca (upscale outdoor “mall”)
-Zoka Cafe for a post-run coffee or tea

Zoka is a 20ish minute walk from the UW light rail station.

Pass By: Fremont, Seattle, WA 98103

Friday nights.

Fremont is the self-proclaimed “Center of the Universe”.

See this vibrant and eccentric neighborhood by running along Seattle’s longest pedestrian trail (Burke Gilman). We will make a stop at Gas Works Park, to see Seattle’s skyline and take in the juxtaposition of industry and nature. Gas Works is one of the coolest parks in all of Seattle and is a must-see while in town.

Our run will end at Fremont Brewery, with a beer included in the price of your ticket. Seattle is known for our craft beer scene and Fremont Brewery is one of the best in town! Fremont Brewery is a short walk to the Fremont Troll – a sculpture of a huge troll holding a VW Beetle, underneath a bridge.
