    DESTROYER IN CONCERT:

Canadian indie rock innovators Destroyer are masters of reinvention, treating fans to new worlds of sonic and emotional territory with each successive album. On 2013’s Five Spanish Songs EP, frontman Dan Bejar explored his Latin heritage with five Spanish-language pop songs, but fans at the band’s eclectic live shows are just as likely to dance to kaleidoscopic disco tracks like “A Savage Night at the Opera” as they are to hear “Maria de las Nieves”. A charismatic showman known for his soft croon and poetic lyrics, Bejar always cooks up a truly memorable experience on the band’s must-see tours.

    BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Destroyer began in Vancouver in the mid-’90s as the bedroom recording project of Dan Bejar. After releasing a lo-fi debut album in 1996 titled We’ll Build Them a Golden Bridge, Bejar teamed up with producer John Collins for his first proper studio album, 1998’s City of Daughters. Over the course of several more albums Bejar continually reinvented the project’s sound, adding a full backing band for 2000’s grandiose, polished Thief before switching to a raw rock sound for 2002’s This Night. A string of diverse albums followed throughout the ’00s, paving the way for Destroyer’s critically acclaimed 2011 album Kaputt, a masterpiece that landed on numerous best-of lists and was named the year’s second best album by Pitchfork. A magnetic and engaging performer, Bejar continues to dazzle ticket buyers on Destroyer’s unforgettable tours.
