Born in Manhattan, Emily King was inspired by her singing parents at an early age, often going on tour with them as they performed throughout the states. At 16 she left school in order to pursue music full-time and started playing local gigs around New York City, eventually attracting attention from label exec Clive Davis who signed her to Sony Music in 2004. Three years later she broke out with the smashing debut East Side Story, earning herself a Grammy nod for Best Contemporary R&B Album and praise from new fans including John Legend. Since then, she’s toured alongside Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, and Emeli Sande, to name a few, and she’ll continue to captivate audiences with her impressive vocal chops as she opens for Sara Bareilles this summer.
